Snapshot

Among my friends I am known as the historian. My love of photography is nothing new, I have always loved the feel of a camera in my hand. I remember having to wait for the film to be developed before seeing what moment in time I had just captured. I love the feel of a camera in my hands and the instantaneous release of a button that has taken a snapshot. A snapshot that encapsulates a moment not to be forgotten. I think this is essentially why I love photography. It documents a place, a person or a feeling. Photos have the power to transport us back in time. I think there’s a real power in photos.

My favorite pictures are landscapes and I love a good candid. I don’t really like to do portraits or groups of people, but I’ll do them if asked. I have given in to the societal norm of a selfie or several…

Today, taking a picture and seeing the final product is so much easier. Anyone with a smart phone has a camera on them at all times. Now, I love me a professional camera but I do realize that most of the moments I want to freeze forever aren’t planned so I don’t always have a professional camera handy. I am grateful that modern technology allows us to have the luxury of carrying a camera with us at all times, which is why my phone is usually is in hands.ย

Being able to combine my love of travel and pictures feels like a dream come true, I like to document the small details and the things people sometimes walk past. I have been blesses to travel and I plan to continue to do so. It also warms my heart when people tell me that they travel through my pictures and my stories so this is for them…I will be linking my visual stories via Instagram. My handle is @OliverEverywhere_ if you want to tag along.

Hope you enjoy.
